Growing in Spiritual Strength: Learning to Depend on God Daily

In our recent Spiritual Strength podcast episodes, we explored a truth many believers wrestle with: real strength does not come from ourselves — it comes from God.
The Apostle Paul reminds us in Ephesians 3:14–21 that spiritual strength begins in humility. Paul kneels before the Father, showing us that strength in the Kingdom of God starts when we surrender. The world teaches us to push harder, control more, and rely on our own abilities, but Scripture teaches the opposite. True strength is found when we recognize our need for God.
Spiritual strength is not about emotions or circumstances. There are seasons when we may not feel God’s presence, yet He remains faithful. The Holy Spirit works beneath the surface, rooting and establishing our hearts in love even when growth isn’t immediately visible. Just like roots grow deep before fruit appears, God strengthens us internally before transformation becomes outwardly evident.
One key theme we discussed is learning to trust God’s timing. Waiting on the Lord builds endurance and faith. Spiritual maturity develops through daily surrender — giving our worries, relationships, plans, and struggles back to God again and again. Strength is not built in a single moment but through consistent dependence on Him.
Scripture also reminds us that spiritual training has eternal value. While physical discipline benefits us for a time, training our hearts to trust God shapes our lives forever. Trials, testing, and weakness are not signs of failure; often, they are the very places where God’s power is revealed most clearly. As Paul writes elsewhere, when we are weak, then we are strong.
Ultimately, spiritual strength grows when we stop holding tighter to control and instead open our hands in surrender. God does more in surrendered hearts than striving ever could.
If you desire deeper faith, greater endurance, and a stronger walk with Christ, spiritual strength begins with drawing near to Him daily and allowing His Spirit to do the work within you.
